We have all been here before – facing the struggle of deciding whether to hit the gym or skip it because there is no time for a wash + style before evening plans. One of the trickiest parts of having hair is deciding what exactly to do with it during a workout, and how to avoid washing it daily after a sweat session. It can seem kind of like a lose-lose situation. No one wants to wash their hair after every workout (hello dry hair!), but it seems just as daunting to find an easy way to style hair for the gym and wear easily out in public afterwards.

Keeping your hair healthy is certainly a challenge because hair is temperamental and super fragile. Plus- it is ever changing.

If you have heard the term “hair porosity” recently and been baffled - don’t worry, you’re not alone! There are lots of different terms and categories to describe hair health, texture and type. We get it - it can be overwhelming! This week, we’re going to be breaking down another (possibly) daunting hair care term – porosity. The term “hair porosity” refers to the general ability of your strands to absorb and retain moisture. There are 3 different types of hair porosity levels: low, medium and high.

Sleek, straight hair is a style achieved by many on a daily basis. Whether it’s natural or the result of a blow dryer and straightener, straight hair is a simple look that almost every single woman has rocked. Although you can achieve straight hair temporarily, you are born with a certain hair type or texture. Within the hair type “straight hair,” there’s different characteristics, like whether or not it’s able to hold a curl, or if it has a slight wave.
As you know by now, understanding your hair type is the first step in maintaining healthy hair. But what comes next? Whether you’re an experienced natural or someone who’s recently abandoned keratin treatments, hair bleach, perms, or any other damaging agents, you have two primary goals: find products that work for your hair and use them in a way that’s best for your hair.

Summertime is here! Are you ready to soak up the sun, take a dip in the pool, catch a tan at the beach?

But...

Are you also ready to take care of your hair in the midst of all your summer fun?

During the summer your hair is subject to the detrimental drying power of the sun, chlorine, and salt-water. Just like you drown yourself in sunscreen to prepare yourself for a long beach day or lounge at the pool, you need to protect your hair. We all hate the stringy, dry strands of hair that twirl between our fingers after a fun outing to the beach or the pool. So why not try to avoid it at all costs?
